After the course the student can explain what is multi-cultural design and how one can make sure that a product fits to different cultures. The student can define what culture as a concept means, what kind of levels of culture there are, how cultures differ from each other and how they affect on interaction with products. The student can explain different approaches and methods related to multi-cultural design, and critically apply the learnings from the course to the cross-cultural design in practice. One can communicate with representatives of different cultures and study their needs and expectations of technology.
|1.||The meaning of culture in developing and using technology||Familiarizes with different cultures and makes points of the culturally dependent aspects|
|2.||The basic concepts of cross-cultural design||Generates insights based on the basic concepts of cross-cultural design and communicates them actively with others in the course|
|3.||Theories of cultural differences (e.g. meta-models and cultural models) and how they can be utilized in design||Interactively generate knowledge and insights about cultural differences||Combine information from different sources (learnings from the course, extra material, own experience) and apply insights innovatively to the cross-cultural design work|
|4.||Methods of cross-cultural design and evaluation in foreign cultures||Innovatively applies learned methods to cross-cultural design work in the course|
Ohjeita opiskelijalle osaamisen tasojen saavuttamiseksi
50% of the grade is determined by the assignment work, 50% by the examination. The grade of the assignments can be raised by submitting assignments with a very good quality. The acceptance limit in the examination is half of the maximum points or more.
