Active participation to lectures and completing a written assignment based on lectures.

Learning outcomes

The students are introduced to the contemporary Finnish society and culture as well as its historical development. After completing the course, students will have basic knowledge of Finland's societal, cultural and economic background from thematically various perspectives. In addition, the students will gain understanding of the cultural and industrial specificities of the Satakunta region. The aim of the course is to help the student make most of their exchange period by an increased understanding of Finnish customs, culture and contemporary issues.

Implementation Description Methods of instruction Implementation
PLA-15016 2013-01 The course is intended for international students who wish to gain comprehensive understanding of Finnish society and culture. The lectures are held by various experts in the topical themes of the course syllabus e.g. Finnish language, technology, social policy, cultural heritage, art, business development in Satakunta region and environment. All international students studying at UCPori’s different university units may attend the course.
