Course objectives
After the course the students will be able to define the main principles of occupational safety and understand its meaning in industry. The students should also be able to identify hazards at work and know how to remove them.

Requirements
Spring term (lectured once per academic year): small group learning sessions and writing a learning diary OR Autumn term: individual studies (learning diary etc.)

Notes
Students should take this introductory course before participating in other courses of occupational safety engineering (unless already studied safety courses at home university). Contact the Institute to get further information about the course arrangements at the beginning of the term.

Language of instruction
Courses of Occupational Safety Engineering are lectured mainly in Finnish. Only the course "Introduction to Safety Engineering" is lectured in English once per academic year (if there are enough participants). However, it is possible to pass the course also by individual studies.
