After the course student can: Evaluate the potential of biogas technology in circular economy Describe biogas concept "from feedstock to energy and fertiliser" Describe in detail each step of the concept Design the biogas concept "from feedstock to energy and fertilser" Understand the role of policy instruments and boundary conditions

1. Different raw materials and their characteristics.      
2. Biogas plant. Process technologies and principles.   Detailed design of processes.    
3. Pretreatment of raw materials and upgrading of digestate.   Detailed design of processes.    
4. Biogas technologies and their use in production of heat, electricity and fuel. Applications of digestate.   Use of digestate in agriculture.    
5. Production chain of biogas.   Detailed design of a biogas plant as an exercise.   

Ohjeita opiskelijalle osaamisen tasojen saavuttamiseksi

Exam and approved exrecise is demanded to pass this course. The grade will be determined on the basis of an exam. A good understanding the core content will suffice to a grade 3. In order to earn a grade 4 or 5 the student will have to have a good or excellent understanding of complementary knowledge.
