TUT on the rise in international rankings
TUT’s placement on the 'Top 50 under 50' list was number 30.
TUT’s placement in key international rankings has been on a notable rise in recent years.
This autumn, TUT climbed the renowned QS university ranking for top young universities, ranking number 30. Last year, TUT ranked 48th on the same ‘QS Top 50 Under 50’ list. In the QS World University Ranking, TUT ranked 319th and improved its standing by 37 places.
Close and functional industry ties have proven to be TUT’s particular strength in several comparisons.
“Throughout its history, Tampere University of Technology has worked in close cooperation with industry. We have been described as ‘the university for industry’, and with good reason. In 2015, for example, TUT was ranked the best Finnish university in the international Times Higher Education ranking, at number 11 among all the world’s universities. In the THE Ranking, university collaboration was measured based on publications co-written by university and business representatives,” Vice President Ulla Ruotsalainen notes.
In another Times Higher Education comparison, published this year and based on industry collaboration, TUT also ranked in the best 20% out of all universities around the world.
