Professor of Physics Mika Valden from the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) of Tampere University of Technology (TUT) has received the Väisälä Award from the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.

Professor (Emeritus) Markus Pessa from Tampere University of Technology has been appointed as an Honorary Professor in Chinese National Key Laboratories on High Power Semiconductor Lasers, Changsun University of Science and Technology.
