Prof. Asko Ellman’s background is on model based design of complex mechatronic systems. Prof. Ellman has worked at the Tampere University of Technology for 25 years as a researcher, senior assistant and professor. He has published wide in international journals and conferences. He has also large international co-operation.
Ph.D. Taina Kaapu has studied information systems and computer sciences, University of Tampere. She got Ph.D. in 2010 with the dissertation “Reaching the Diversity of Users’ Understandings: A Methodological Renewal”, which focuses on the methodological possibilities to study user experience with technology. Currently one of her main interest areas is related to user experience in the context of virtual machine design and also to methodological development in this discussion. Ph.D. Kaapu’s approach to study user experience is multidisciplinary and mainly qualitative (especially phenomenography).
M.Sc.(Eng.) Ville Jouppila is graduated in Electrical Engineering with Power Electronics as a main subject in 2005 at Tampere University of Technology. In the research group he has been working since 2003. He is currently finalizing his Ph.D dissertation related to on/off valve controlled servo-pneumatic muscle actuator systems. His main interest areas are different actuator technologies, fluid power, and control of nonlinear systems.
M.Sc.(Eng.) Jukka Kuusisto graduated from Helsinki University of Technology in 2002, majoring in Information Technology. He has been a part of the research group since 2003. He is doing a Ph.D on Virtual Technology and Machine Design. His research focus is on how immersion level affects the virtual design of mobile machine cockpits. Over the years he has worked in several projects regarding the automatic testing of mobile machine control centres.
M.Sc.(Eng.) Antti-Ville Itäsalo has studied mechanical engineering in Tampere university of technology. Virtual technology, and in more specifically implementing it in machine design has become very familiar to him as being part of Ellman's VR-research group for more than 4 years. Itäsalo's current research topic is "using reliability in consept design".
M.Sc.(Eng.) Ilari Laine has studied mechanical engineering in Tampere university of Technology. He works as a lecturer at the Department of Mechanics and Design , and has joined the Virtual Design research group in spring 2011. His teaching areas are CAD design and machine elements.
B.Sc.(Eng.) Harri Saarinen is studying mechanical engineering in Tampere University of Technology. Has worked at Asko Ellman's VR-research group for 3 years as research assistant.
