The Department of Mechanics and Design (MEC) was created on 1.1.2008 from two smaller departments, namely from the Department of Machine Design and the Department of Engineering Mechanics and Optimization. The new department is responsible for the basic teaching of mechanical engineers in CAD, engineering mechanics and solid mechanics.
The department has now 5 professors. Two professors in Engineering Mechanics have just retired, and one of these professorships is to be filled soon.
