Studies

Department of Energy and Process Engineering offers teaching within three teachings: energy and process engineering, paper converting and packaging technology and environmental health and safety.

The focus in Energy and Process Engineering is efficient and environmentally safe production and utilization of energy, as well as design and development of process systems and equipment. The education covers a wide variety from everyday needs to highly specialised applications. The modern society cannot function without energy and technologies related to it, such as heating and cooling. There are plenty of challenges for the makers of tomorrow – for ex. production quality improvement, reduction of the environmental effects of energy production and efficient energy utilization – that can be solved by applying for ex. knowledge of computational and experimental fluid dynamics.

Studies in Paper Converting and Packaging Technology give knowledge of paper production and capability for operation, design and research positions in the industry. The goal is to develop more functional, safer solutions with reduced environmental impact for end products, for ex. food casings.

Studies of Environmental Health and Safety provide the student with understanding of health related issues essential to environment and the involved phenomena. The studies provide basic knowledge of health related aspects of the energy industry and effects of new technologies on health, including traffic and logistics, as well as health problems of electromagnetic fields.
