Teaching and research fields of the Department of Energy and Process Engineering are an experimental and computational heat transfer, power plant technology and combustion technology, air pollution control, refrigerating engineering, heat pumps, paper converting and packing technology and environmental health.
The research of the Department is divided into four research groups, which are Energy Production, Environmental Health, Flow Research and Paper Converting and Packaging Technology. The professors of the Department act as the leaders of research groups. There are about 40 research persons.
The Department of Energy and Process Engineering offers teaching within three areas: Energy and Process Engineering, Paper Converting and Packing Technology and Environmental Health. Courses of the Department are found from the study guide (in finnish). In addition to seven (7) professors, there are three (3) teaching associates staff in the Department.
The Department has two laboratories which support the operation of research groups and offer a measuring and development services. In the laboratories work six (6) persons.
The leader of the department is Hannu Ahlstedt. The development manager, financial secretary and office secretary establish the administrative staff of the Department in addition to the department leader.
