The vision of the Department of Energy and Process Engineering is to develop technologies and materials for energy, forest and process industries, which are based on sustainable processes, raw materials and energy production. Our goal is a safe, low-emission and environmentally friendly future with a healthy living environment.
The Department offers highest level of academic education, produces scientific knowledge and provides specialist services for the industry in the fields of expertise. The department has active national and international co-operation with universities, research institutions and industry.
The research of the Department is divided into four research groups, which are Flow research, Energy Production, Paper Converting and Packaging technology and Environmental Health.
The groups conduct independent research with dedicated project funding. Each group has their own research strategy. Together these form the basis of the department strategy. Co-operation in research and education is tight between the groups.
The Department also has a support service group that provides the required services and equipment for the research groups.
