The Department of Electronics has long term scientific studies as well as application oriented research in the fields of Electronics and Electromagnetics. The research activities aim to create new scientific knowledge and methods into the needs of electrical engineering.
The main focus areas in Electronics research are Radio Frequency (RF) Technology, Personal Electronics, and Electronic Materials and Manufacturing. In electronics research the foundations, development of new models and methdos and their verification in applications are important aspects. The research work has both a component in basic and in applied research supporting each other.
The main areas in Electromagnetics research are Mathematical Modelling of Electrical Engineering and Superconductivity. The scientific research focuses on new needs and questions in electrical engineering that cannot be solved with the traditional approaches, but instead which require a solid understanding in modelling, analysis and in physics and modern mathematics. In Electromagnetics there are also activities in electromagnetic field and wave analysis for the engineering needs.
The department offers research services for external collaborators.
