Management of electric and magnetic fields

EU has set limit values of exposure to electric and magnetic fields for public and workers. The owners of the electric systems and equipments have to make sure and be able to prove that the limits are not exceeded in any conditions. In Finnish legislation the limits are considered with the Degree 294/2002 "Upper Limits of Public Exposure to Non-Ionizing Radiation by the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health".

Measurement methods of magnetic field exposure and magnetic field management have been studied for several years in TUT. Measurement equipments of TUT are suitable for both momentary and long term measurements. Measurement equipments have been utilized in studies considering magnetic field management, whose results have been presented in journals as the usual way of science, e.g. in Health Pysics Journal.
