Water and Waste Engineering Research

Water and Waste Engineering research areas include water, wastewater and solid waste management and remediation of contaminated environments. Physical and chemical unit processes are developed for the removal and recycling of nutrients and for the removal of natural organic matter and micro-pollutants. Real-time detection of environmental contaminants utilizes advanced chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods as well as methods of molecular biology. New water supply and sanitation technologies are developed for rural areas and developing countries and include studies on the institutional evolution and development of sustainable use of water services.
