Research
The four research groups of the Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering share the common long-term focus of developing new and sustainable concepts and processes for resource recovery and for the development of renewable energy harvesting technologies. This research is driven by the global scarcity of critical natural resources including energy, water and minerals, also reflecting the University research priority areas. The Department has a joint research strategy, from 2008, that follows principles:

Supramolecular Photochemistry (SPC-group) led by prof. Helge Lemmetyinen and prof. Nikolai Tkachenko

Methods for Organic Synthesis (Synthesis-Group) led by prof. Robert Franzen
The SPC-group is a partner in the Nanophotonics consortium, one of the leading-edge fileds of research on TUT.
