Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering was established 2008 by combining two earlier independent Departments, Department of Chemistry and Department of Bioengineering and Environmental Engineering. This process was a part of larger organization rearrangement at TUT. The special tasks of the former Departments become duties of the Laboratories of the new Deaprtment.
The present teaching of the Department of the Chemistry and Bioengineering covers chemistry, biotechnology and environmental engineering.
The Department has produced during the last years 6 % from the total credits points of the University, 3 % from the Master of Science Degrees and 5-10 % from the Doctoral Thesis. From the scientific product, international refereed articles, the Department has produced 10-12 %.
The Permanent Staff of the Department, professors, other teachers and the personal supporting teaching and research contains 70 persons. The number of researchers paid by external funding is 50.
