Principal Investigators at ASE: Prof. Pasi Kallio
Duration of the project: 2006 – 2009
Project description:
VTT has developed a MEMS resonator sensor for point-of care diagnostic applications and reached a point where liquid handling has become more important
ASE / MST task in the project was to develop a sample delivery system, which is able to deliver the submicroliter samples onto the resonator sensor plate.
The main results at ASE were:
• Increased understanding on the bonding (reversible and irreversible) of the PDMS to different substrates (e.g. Silicon, SU-8 photoresist, glass, polyester)
• Increased understanding on the chemical treatment of the naturally hydrophobic surface of PDMS towards stable hydrophilic surface
• Increased understanding on the moulding techniques and SU-8 processing
• Increased understanding on the pressure based fluid controlling
