Computing Resources

The computing facilities of TCSC consist of two types of hardware:

  1. Linux clusters (Merope & Akaatti) and
  2. a local computing grid (TUTGrid).

Members of TUT may follow these instructions to apply for an account in these computing facilities (intranet login required).

Merope

The Merope cluster is Linux-based and part of the Finnish Grid Infrastructure (FGI). Merope contains approximately 600 CPU cores for scientific computing.

Akaatti

The Akaatti cluster is Linux-based and part of the national M-grid infrastructure. Akaatti contains approximately 350 CPU cores for scientific computing.

Further information: Akaatti and M-grid.

TUTGrid, the computing grid within TUT

TUTGrid utilizes the idle capacity of desktop PCs and other computers at TUT for scientific computing. There are currently approximately 1000 CPU cores connected.

TUTGrid is based on the grid middleware developed by Techila Technologies Ltd.
