Health care

The Finnish Student Health Service - FSHS (in Finnish: Ylioppilaiden terveydenhoitosäätiö - YTHS)

FSHS provides health care services for university students in Finland. A health care fee is included in the Student Union membership fee, so after paying the membership fee you are entitled to all the health care services provided by FSHS. Basic health care at FSHS is free of charge, but small fees are charged for specialist consultations and treatment. Please note that FSHS does not perform, for example, extensive medical operations. FSHS is closed on weekends and national holidays.

FSHS has two health centres in Tampere. One is near the University of Tampere (visiting address: Kalevantie 3) and the otehr one on the TUT campus in the Sähkötalo building. The student health centres in Tampere are open Mon-Fri 8.00-14.00 (closed on weekends). The student health centre in Kalevantie is open all year round, but the TUT campus health centre is closed during the summer months.

To make an appointment, either call or visit FSHS. In case you cannot make it to the appointment, please remember to cancel! In addition to the standard, price-list based consultation fee, FSHS charges an extra fee of EUR 4 for missed appointments that have not been cancelled beforehand. The extra fee is also charged for appointments with free-of-charge consultation.

Services provided by FSHS: nurses, general practitioners, specialists, psychologist, dentists, physiotherapists, laboratory services, phone-in counselling, health information websites, online health counselling, etc.
