International students conduct their doctoral studies in English, so a good command of the English language is an absolute prerequisite. The language certificate is always required, if the student's native language is not English.
Exemptions may be applied to students who hold a degree from one of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.
One of the following language tests is required:

TOEFL (score 550/213/80 or higher)

IELTS (score 6.5 or higher)

Cambridge Language Certificate (Proficiency CPE or Advanced CAE) (grade "C" or higher)
Score reports should be sent to TUT directly from the testing centres. The TOEFL code of Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is 0599. TUT has no institutional code for other language tests. Score reports are sent to:
