Entrance examinations are held every year between late May and early June.
There are different examinations for architecture and engineering programmes.
More detailed information will be available on the University's website during the application period. For more information and to view previous entrance exams, please visit: http://www.dia.fi/
The preliminary assignments are published on the Internet in early March and should be delivered to Helsinki University of Technology in April.
Based on the preliminary assignments, applicants are selected to the second stage to take part in the mathematics examination. The mathematics examination is held in May.
Applicants who pass the mathematics examination are accepted to take the final drawing and design tests. The final drawing and design tests are held in early June.
Entrance examinations for engineering programmes are arranged in mathematics, physics and chemistry. All applicants are required to take an examination in mathematics. Almost all applicants can select to take an exam either in physics or chemistry. Please note that for some degree programmes it is compulsory to take an examination in physics.
Applicants can usually take both chemistry and physics exams and the results of the better exam will be taken into account.
The exams are originally designed for Finnish upper secondary school graduates (graduates from Finnish "Lukio" schools) and they examine the material taught at upper secondary schools in mathematics, physics and chemistry (extensive courses).
There are no specific books available, but questions and model answers from previous years are available to international students so they can acquaint themselves with the structure of the exams in advance.
