IT Helpdesk

The IT Helpdesk provides help and support with issues related to the electronic communication environment, Internet services and software licenses.

The IT Helpdesk is located on the second floor of the Kampusareena in room A258.

How to change your password

Do not reveal your password to anyone. Never reveal your password even to persons posing as administrators: administrators do not need users' passwords.

  • The password must contain at least 10 characters, both letters and numbers. Special characters are also allowed.

Changing a forgotten password at the IT Helpdesk

It is impossible to restore a forgotten password; it must be changed. You can change your password at the IT Helpdesk. In order to change the password, you must visit the IT Helpdesk personally and present your student card or personal ID.

Passwords cannot be changed over the telephone or via e-mail. If you cannot visit the IT Helpdesk yourself, we can send you your new password by regular mail.

Resetting a forgotten password using your online bank account

You can also use your online banking service to reset a forgotten or misplaced account or password. Note: For this to work you need to have a Finnish social security number issued by the Population Registry Center.

In this case your authentication is based on the TUPAS service of the banks. You can use the online bank accounts of the following banks  to reset your password or receive a new account: Handelsbanken, Nordea, Osuuspankki, Sampo Bank, Säästöpankki and the Paikallisosuuspankki Group (Sp/Pop), Tapiola Bank, Ålandsbanken and S-Bank.

To change your password, go to https://www.tut.fi/tupas/tunnus/en.

Select your bank and identify yourself as usual. After successful authentication the system asks you if your name and social security code may be submitted to the service provider, in this case to TUT. After you have accepted this, a form for changing your account information will appear after a short delay. Use the form to change your password.

If you are using your online bank account for authentication purposes for the first time, you must confirm that you agree to follow the rules and regulations for using TUT's information systems.

All traffic between the user's browser, TUT, and the bank's web server is SSL encrypted. Thanks to this procedure the user does not need to know his/her account in advance when changing the password.
