Busses to and from TUT

There are several bus lines that run frequently from city center to Hervanta.

The bus lines 6, 20 and 24 stop right in fron of TUT and the name of the bus stop is TTY.

Other bus lines that stop very close to the university are 3 and 5. There the name of the stop is Ahvenisjärvi.

Nearly all the busses have GPS screen which always tells the name of the next stop.

Bus number 6 goes right in front of the recommended hotels. The names of the bus stops to catch number 6 are Rautatieasema I, Yliopistonkatu and  Tampere-talo. The bus runs about every 10 minutes during rush hours in the morning and in the afternoon and every 15 to 20 minutes otherwise. Schedules of number 6 can be found here.

Bus number 3 runs more frequently and leaves from central station (Rautatieasema I) and also stops close to TUT at Ahvenisjärvi. The schedules can be found here.

Busses to Varala

Nature related programme takes place in Varala sports center. It is reachable by local bus number 25. The busses leave in front of the central station at 17.41, 18.01 and 18.26. The name of the bus stop is Varala.

Busses to and from Tampere-Pirkkala Airport

If you are flying directly to Tampere, you can catch a bus or a taxi from ther airport to the city center. The price of the bus is 5 euros which can be paid in cash when entering the bus.

Bus line 1A operates between Tampere city center and Tampere-Pirkkala airport.

Bus tickets

When reaching the university for the first time for registration, conference guests need to pay for their own ticket. The ticket can be bought from the bus driver when entering the bus. The price of the ticket is 3 euros and only cash is accepted. The price of the bus to the airport is 5 euros.

Plannign the route

There are several apps to be downloaded to plan the bus journeys in Tampere. You can also use Repa Reittiopas - the journey planner with a browser. You just need to write the address where you are leaving and the address where you are going and it will give you suggestion on different routes.


A taxi ride from the city center to the university costs about 20 euros and takes about 20 minutes.
A taxi ride from Tampere-Pirkkala airport to the city center takes about 30 minutes and costs around 40 euros.
A taxi ride from Tampere-Pirkkala airport to Tampere University of Technology takes about 30 minutes and costs around 40 euros.
