Research ethics

For scientific research to be ethically acceptable and reliable, the conduct of research must conform to good scientific practice. All researchers and research groups are responsible for ensuring that research complies with the generally accepted ethical principles. The responsibility also lies with the broader scientific community: research groups, researchers and the directors of research groups and research organizations.

The National Advisory Board on Research Ethics appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish scientific community have prepared guidelines for good scientific practice. The guidelines set forth ethical principles for conducting research and specify the procedures for managing allegations of scientific misconduct.

TUT is committed to following the guidelines and raising awareness of research ethics.

TUT is involved in the regional Ethics Advisory Committee for Life Sciences. The committee implements ethical review processes in higher education institutions and research centres and oversees the advancement of research ethics in its field.
