The Aerosol Physics research unit at TUT advances multidisciplinary science in the areas of emissions and air quality, atmospheric aerosols, nanoparticle synthesis, nanostructured coatings, and relevant measurement techniques. Our long-term vision involves the implementation of the state-of-the-art on-line mass spectrometric techniques to resolve open questions related to particle formation and chemistry in all of these areas. The unit has a proven record of publications in high ranked journals and patents of research inventions.

Job Description

At this time, we invite applications for a tenure-track position in Experimental Aerosol Science. We will give special attention to candidates who have strong expertise in the following subfields or a combination thereof:

  • Aerosol related mass spectrometry
  • Nanoparticle measurement, including
  • sub-3 nm cluster range
  • State-of-art aerosol analytics
  • Experimental aerosol research
 

Relevant background areas of the candidates include aerosol physics, chemistry, environmental science, and atmospheric science.The position will be filled at the level of Assistant Professor (1st term), Assistant Professor (2nd term) or Associate Professor based on the experience and competence of the successful candidate. Depending on the tenure-track level, we expect candidates to either have a track record or demonstrated potential to secure external research funding and to possess excellent academic credentials. Salary

Salaries are based on the job demands and employees personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. In addition, TUT has implemented bonus systems.

Typical annual starting salaries: - the position of Assistant Professor, 1st term: 39,500-45,500 EUR per year - the position of Assistant Professor, 2nd term: 45,500-53,500 EUR per year - the position of Associate Professor: 52,800-61,500 EUR per year

Trial period:

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a trial period of four (4) months.

Other:

The positions of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor are filled for a fixed-term period of four years. The length of the fixed-term period is based on the University's tenure track system. The appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a trial period of four months. The expected start date will be agreed upon with the candidates.
