Tampere School of Architecture is a pioneer in modeling architecture and urban space. Currently, School’s research covers topical themes in architecture, urban planning and urban studies. The different research groups share interests in sustainable built environment, the social significance of space and openness to new techniques of analysis and design.
For doctoral students the School provides an international and well-networked research environment, further enhanced by the ongoing merger of the universities in Tampere. The merger, known as ‘Tampere3’, will improve links between research in architecture, planning, regional studies, environmental politics, urban economics, sociology, digital tools, and more. In this context, the universities plan to establish an interdisciplinary Institute of Society and Space.
The School of Architecture has its own English language academic publication series Datutop. Head of School Panu Lehtovuori and Research Director Anssi Joutsiniemi are happy to answer any queries. You can also directly address the responsible persons of the research groups.
