How to apply

The application deadline is two weeks after the course begins.

Students apply for admission to the Open University by completing an online application. Please note that you will get the study right for the courses you will be accepted to and the ones you will pay the fee for. Therefore apply only for the courses you are willing the pay the fee for in one go.

If you are taking part in a course organized during daytime please make sure that you have a place in the course ( language courses specially)  before you make the payment.

The secretary of the Open University will process the applications. Students will be informed of the decisions via the online application system: students will receive the letter of acceptance, enrolment form and instructions for getting started with their studies through the application system.

After receiving the letter of acceptance, students must enrol at the Open University by submitting the enrolment form and payment receipt, or a copy thereof, to the Student Services Office of TUT. Students who fail to complete the enrolment forfeit their right to study at the Open University.

The student’s personal information will be entered into the Student Register after the enrolment process has been completed. When students enrol for the first time, they receive a student number that will remain unchanged for the duration of their studies. To enquire about your student number, please contact the Student Services Office (tel. +358 (0) 40 198 1484, email: avoin@tut.fi).

Students will receive their username and password to the student intranet (POP, www.tut.fi/pop) after they have enrolled. They can also collect the user name from the IT Helpdesk (2nd floor of the Main Building) after enrolling. Students must present proof if identity when collecting the user name and password.

Students can, for example, view their study records and sign up for exams through the student intranet POP.
