Kampusareena

Open House at TUT on Thursday

TUT hosts an Open House on Thursday, 10 September, and invites the general public to visit the campus and Kampusareena. Activities arranged by the departments are spread out across campus. Staff and students are also welcome to attend the events!

The programme of the Open House includes exhibitions and guided tours of the campus and the companies located in Kampusareena. Coffee and candy is served for the first 50 participants in Kampusareena to mark TUT’s 50th anniversary. Balloons are distributed in Tietotalo and in Talli’s facilities on the 2nd floor of Sähkötalo. Guided tours

Guided tours of Kampusareena will leave from the info desk on the first floor at 13:30, 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30 (in Finnish) and at 15:30 (in English). Tours of the TUT Library will leave from the info desk at 14:15, 15:15 and 16:15 (in Finnish). Tours of the other campus facilities will leave at 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00 (in Finnish).

Activities arranged by the departments

The Department of Automation Science and Engineering will showcase helicopter and robot demos on the campus front lawn from 14:00 to 16:00.

A demo titled ’Age Estimation in the Wild’ put together by the Department of Signal Processing will be on display in the lobby of the Tietotalo building. Will you dare let a computer estimate your age based on your portrait?

An interactive 3D display developed by the new 3D laboratory (CIVIT), which will open at TUT in October, will be on display in Tietotalo.

The Department of Industrial Management hosts an Open House in the B wing of the Festia building, where you can also get to know the activities of the Department of Information Management and Logistics.

The Department of Materials Science welcomes visitors to the laboratory K4113 on Konetalo’s 4th floor to see close-ups of the eye of a fly and a carbon nanotube.

The Department of Hydraulics and Automation holds a poster presentation and shows video demos of its research activities in room K2341D in the Konetalo building.

The Department of Physics presents its activities in the Sähkötalo building. Guided tours will leave from the 2nd floor of the J wing (in front of room SJ212B) at 14, 15, 16 and 17.

Talli hosts an Open House on the 2nd floor of Sähkötalo. Talli offers a broad range of support and services to fledgling entrepreneurs among students and staff. Balloons are available.

In Kampusareena the audience gets a glimpse into TUT’s industry collaboration, fundraising and the Campus Club. Two 100 euro gift vouchers to Tampere Hall will be raffled off among all those who participate in a survey.

TUT’s Students Services and the Centre for Professional Development Edutech will also showcase their activities in Kampusareena. Edutech will also host an Open House in its new facilities on the 3rd floor.

Exhibitions in Kampusareena

Various exhibitions are on display in Kampusareena during the Open House. The Tampere Lights exhibition showcases high-tech applications of light.

TUT’s Student Museum has been moved from Tietotalo to Kampusareena to mark the Opening Week of the academic year. The museum tells the story of TUT’s students from the late 1960s to the present day.

Photographs by Arto Jalonen that recount the history of TUT are exhibited in Regus Kora’s facilities on Kampusareena’s 8th floor.

You can also try what it is like to play ‘table kyykkä’, a miniature version of a traditional Finnish game, under the supervision of the members of the TEA student club in Kampusareena.

Exhibitions in Konetalo and Rakennustalo

The JA-HAA! Fair is held in Konetalo building on Thursday. The fair introduces first-year students to the numerous student clubs and extracurricular activities available on the TUT campus. A couple of hundred participants will even have the opportunity to experience of thrill of bungee jumping.

Designs by 4th and 5th year architecture students are exhibited in Rakennustalo.
