Industrial Research Fund - Tampere University of Technology

Industrial Research Fund

The Industrial Research Fund of Tampere University of Technology was established by Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its member companies in 1987 to financially support the University’s research and other activities.

Each year, the Industrial Research Fund grants approximately one million euros of funding to the University.

The Industrial Research Fund relies almost entirely on donations and bequests. Donors may have a fund named after them.

Over the years, the Industrial Research Fund has supported the University’s research activities, sponsored the building of the campus sports hall and acquired the mountain cabin Boahtteáigi in Saariselkä, Lapland, and a number of flats in Tampere. The flats are available for rent to visiting researchers.

The Industrial Research Fund gives out grants and scholarships, among others, to students who are preparing a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation at the University. Travel grants may be awarded to faculty and staff who travel abroad for University-related purposes.
