The following grants are available for students:
- Students preparing a master’s thesis may receive up to 10,400 euros (8 x 1,300 euros);
- Students preparing a doctoral dissertation may receive up to 15,000 euros.
Applications are processed on the last week of each month. Applications must reach the Industrial Research Fund by the 20th of the month, in which case the first instalment is paid on the last weekday of the month.
Grants are paid in monthly instalments. The final instalment is paid after the thesis or dissertation has been approved in the faculty.
The grant may be suspended or terminated, if the work does not proceed according to plan.
Students who are preparing a thesis or a dissertation are covered under the University’s accident insurance plan.
Students who receive a grant for preparing a doctoral dissertation are, with some restrictions, covered by the Finnish Farmers’ Pension Act MYEL. The grant recipient’s MYEL contribution amounts to 15-16% of the grant. More details will be provided when grants are awarded to applicants.

The University’s staff members may apply for a travel grant from the Industrial Research Fund, if they travel abroad for official purposes. The grant covers a maximum of 80 per cent of the total travel costs.
