Studying at TUT


Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is an influential regional, national and international operator in the field of technology and architecture. International orientation is central in the activities of TUT, in both research and education, and the university has cooperation partners in these activities around the world. Tampere University of Technology conducts scientific research in technology and architecture and provides the highest education within these fields. Founded in 1965, the University has grown to hold significant influence in the field of technology and as a major promoter of business and social well-being in Finland. TUT is the largest technical university in Finland and has a lively campus of 13,000 students and 2,000 staff members.

School of Architecture
The Tampere School of Architecture was found in 1969. During the last 40 years the School of Architecture has aimed to provide students with a broad general understanding of the fundamentals of architecture on which to build their special expertise, already in the programme and later on throughout their careers. The school's reputation rests on open-minded choice of themes and methods, of profound interpretation, high quality and the prominent presentation of its results.

University Campus and Facilities
TUT offers an excellent study environment. TUT has a modern campus with several IT labs, wireless network, student restaurants, a bookstore, a sports hall and a health care center. Other useful services for students include student tutors coordinated by the TUT International Office, personal study plans and an orientation week before the studies start. Student guilds as well as numerous clubs provide leisure time activities ranging from sports to culture.

Facilities at School of Architecture
The School of architecture provides students with School’s own digital media facilities that consist of a two advanced computer labs (PC and MAC), printers, plotters and scanners including high quality large format color plotter, architectural software solutions, and integrated design tools. In addition free wireless network throughout the campus accessed with school’s computers or own laptops.

Faculty Members
Thanks to the relative small size of our School the atmosphere is one of closeness. Staff and students constitute a small close-knit community where teaching and learning are well motivated. Professors are easy to approach and the relationship between students and teachers is informal.
