TUT in brief for parents

Is your son or daughter interested in studying at TUT? If so, you can rest assured that TUT will offer your child a high-quality education and an internationally accredited degree, providing excellent career prospects.

Degrees and employment prospects

The Tampere University of Technology provides education at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels, forming professionals whose diverse expertise is sought-after in the national and international job market. TUT´s international programmes lead to the degree of Master of Science in Technology or Master of Science in Architecture and, at postgraduate level, to the degree of Doctor of Science in Technology or Doctor of Science in Architecture. TUT is a university with a strong international reputation, an active network with other universities and polytechnics, and connections to the industry. This provides multiple opportunities for the students to establish contacts with firms and companies already during their studies, thus offering good chances to find employment right after graduating. In fact, most TUT´s MSc graduates are employed at the time of their graduation. Following the successful completion of one of the Master´s programmes, students are moreover eligible to apply to a doctoral programme, either at TUT or abroad.

Studying

TUT offers an excellent study environment, modern study facilities and quality instruction. Teaching not only includes traditional lectures but also e-learning and hands-on methods based on the learn-by-doing approach. This provides a solid basis of theoretical knowledge as well as practical expertise. Students are furthermore highly encouraged to be independent and active learners, to take responsibility for their studies and to develop critical and innovative thinking. A relaxed and informal student-teacher relationship makes professors and lecturers approachable and ensures that students benefit as much as possible from their teachers' knowledge and knowhow.
