Doctoral Programme in the Built Environment

The University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology and Tampere University of Applied Sciences are building a new higher education community and creating a new model for higher education in Finland. Our new higher education community will begin its operations on 1 January 2019, when the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology are merged to create the new Tampere University.

The Doctoral Programme in the Built Environment offers the possibility to complete the postgraduate degrees of Licenciate of Science (Technology/Architecture), Doctor of Science (Technology), Doctor of Science (Architecture) and Doctor of Philosophy in two majors:

  • Architecture and Urban Planning and Design
  • Civil and Infrastructure Engineering

The programme is administered by the Faculty of Business and Built Environment. The head of the programme is Vice Dean for the Research,  Professor Saku Mäkinen.
