Preparing your application

The online application form will be available during the application periods only at Studyinfo.fi. Please note the different application periods for the two admission groups and submit your online application during the correct application period.

The requirements for how to submit your application documents and details on the required documents are specified below. Please read carefully the information for your admission group. If you are unsure about which admission group you should apply in, please see How to apply.

Admission group I

 

Start preparing your application documents as early as possible!

Remember to reserve appointments for a language test and the SAT Subject tests as early as possible.

Regarding admission group I, the deadline for  taking the SAT Subject Tests has been extended due to lack of available test dates.

For both admission groups the SAT Subject tests Mathematics 2 and Physics need to be taken in May 2018 at the latest. All tests need to be taken after 1 January 2016 to be considered.

If your language test score is expiring during the application period, you should contact the TUT Admissions Office well before it expires.

The application form includes the following sections:

-Personal information
-Bachelor’s degree
-English language proficiency
-SAT Subject Tests
-Additional information
-Tuition fees and TUT scholarships
- Attachments

Make sure that the contact information (postal address and email address) you provide in the application is correct and valid at least until August 2018. All correspondence concerning your application will be sent by email. The letter of acceptance will be sent to the email address given in the application form.

You will need to upload the application documents online at Studyinfo.fi. Please read the following instructions before uploading the documents:
- Scan the documents. Do not take photos as the quality may not be sufficient for us to be able to process the documents.
- Scan all document pages containing any text. Remember to scan also the back pages of the documents if they contain any kind of text.
- Check the scan to see that everything on the original document can be read on the scan.
- The files should be in PDF-format.
- All documents that are in the same category (for example the degree certificate or transcript of records) should be scanned into ONE file. Do not make a separate file for each page.
 

1. Certified copy of the certificate of upper secondary education and its official English translation
2. Certified copy of the transcript of records
(listing the courses completed during upper secondary education) and its official English translation


The copies of the secondary school leaving certificate, transcript of records and their translations into English must be authenticated by a notary public, the Finnish Embassy/Consulate in your home country or the institution that issued the original document with an institutional stamp on the documents.

If the original document is not in Finnish, Swedish or English, it needs to be translated into one of the above mentioned languages either by the authority that issued the original document or by an official translator and authenticated.

Applicants who wish to apply during their last semester of upper secondary education have to submit a document issued by their school that indicates the qualification that the applicant is about to complete and the expected date of graduation.

3. The results of the SAT Subject tests Mathematics 2 and Physics

4. Certificate of English language proficiency

5. Motivation letter including CV

In the motivation letter you demonstrate in your own words your motivation towards studying in the programme you are applying to, and describe your background and achievements in the form of a CV. Instructions for writing the motivation letter including CV

6. Copy of your passport
You will also need to submit a copy of your residence permit card to Finland if you are applying for the exemption of tuition fees on the basis of your residence permit.

 

If we need more information on your skills in Mathematics, we will invite you to an online interview. The possible invitation to the interview will be sent by email during the first week of March at the latest. The interview will be conducted via Adobe Connect. The requirements for the interviewee’s computer are an internet connection, a web browser with Flash, a camera and a microphone. Please note that you will need to submit the following attachments by post:

  • Certified copies of your educational documents (certificate of upper secondary education and transcript of records and the English translations of the documents as instructed above)

Admission group II

The application form includes the following sections:

-Additional information supporting your application
-Tuition fees and TUT scholarships

1. A certified copy of the IB, EB or RP Diploma and its English translation

- Applicants who have taken the Finnish Matriculation Examination do not need to upload the document, as the results of the matriculation examination are transferred to TUT electronically.

- Applicants who wish to apply during their last semester of IB, EB or RP education are required to upload a Predicted Grades document. A copy of the final diploma must reach TUT Admissions Office by 14 July 2018 at 15.00.

- Authentication of documents can be done by a notary public, a Finnish Embassy/Consulate or by the institution that issued the original document. If the original document is not in Finnish, Swedish or English, it must be translated into one of the above-mentioned languages and authenticated either by the authority that issued the original document or by an official translator.

 

2. Certificate of English language proficiency (if not exempted)
