Quality assurance

Tampere University of Technology (TUT) strives for high quality. Quality refers to results and activities that are consistent with the University’s guidelines. Quality assurance refers to the policies, procedures and systems that the University has adopted to maintain and improve quality. TUT’s quality system is an important tool of performance and development for the university community and its members.

The QA system is based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model known as the Quality Cycle that supports a systematic and continuous cycle of improvement. The model helps the members of the university community perform their professional duties in accordance with the University’s values which are courage, responsibility and community spirit.

The QA system:

  • establishes uniform quality assurance procedures throughout the University
  • improves predictability
  • supports and ensures the achievement of the University’s goal

Audit

Tampere University of Technology participates in audits of the quality systems every six years. Audits are conducted by The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC).

FINHEEC has approved TUT's quality management system audit on 3rd of March, 2014. TUT's quality system as a whole was rated as "advanced", which is the highest rating. The audit is valid for six years until 3rd of March, 2020.
