University Properties of Finland Ltd buys Tamppi Areena
University Properties of Finland Ltd and the Industrial Research Fund of Tampere University of Technology (TUT) signed a contract on 18 October, whereby the ownership of TUT’s sports hall Tamppi Areena was transferred to University Properties of Finland Ltd.
The contract was signed by CEO Mauno Sievänen from University Properties of Finland and, on behalf of the Industrial Research Fund, Executive Director Riitta Aspila and Vice Chairman Jukka Terhonen.
The sale of Tamppi Areena was a natural decision, as the University’s other facilities on campus are already owned by University Properties of Finland Ltd.
Tampere University of Technology rents Tamppi Areena and the other facilities on campus from University Properties of Finland Ltd. The sale of Tamppi Areena does not affect the sports and exercise opportunities available to students and staff and all activities will continue as usual. The sports hall has been in active use for 10 years.
“Before the sale was concluded, the sports hall was inspected and found to be in good condition, for which we owe thanks to our students”, says Riitta Aspila, Executive Director of the Industrial Research Fund.
Construction on the extension to Tamppi Areena will continue later this autumn. The construction project will be conducted by University Properties of Finland Ltd.
