TUT to introduce tuition fees and a related waiver system

Tampere University of Technology will start collecting tuition fees from degree students coming from outside the EU/EEA area. The system will apply to students starting their studies in autumn 2017 or later. In future, gifted students may be granted a waiver of the tuition fees.

A legislative amendment effective since the beginning of 2016 obligates all Finnish universities to collect fees from degree students coming from outside the EU/EEA area and starting their studies on 1 August 2017 or later.

At TUT, the tuition fee for an academic year in a bachelor’s degree programme conducted in English will be 10,000 euros and that in a master’s degree programme (technology or architecture) conducted in English will be 12,000 euros.

In conjunction with the renewal, TUT will also introduce a waiver system. The waivers granted may cover a students’ annual tuition fee either partially or in full. The waivers are granted based on the students’ success in student admission. The recipients are required to show good progress in their studies.

“We are able to offer international students topical and relevant degrees in a high-standard learning environment. Our waiver system is designed to support the studies of gifted students,” Vice President for Education Petri Suomala says.
