TUT launches Finland’s first Bachelor’s programme taught in English in the field technology

Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is the first Finnish university to launch a Bachelor’s degree programme taught in English in the field of technology. The application period for the programme begins today.

The International Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Science and Engineering is intended for both Finnish and international students who have completed studies on the upper secondary level. The three-year degree programme will provide students with multidisciplinary basic knowledge of various subjects in the fields of engineering and science. In addition, it will offer a wide range of opportunities for continued studies in the master’s level majors taught in English at TUT. The introductory and language studies will provide support for studying in English as well as promote the students’ integration in Finnish society and the University.

“The establishment of this Bachelor’s programme was a strategic choice for our university. We strive to invest in the internationality of our educational offerings,” President Markku Kivikoski says.

The first application period for the programme will continue from 1 December 2015 until 27 January 2016. This period is intended for applicants with a foreign upper secondary level degree. The second application period will take place between 16 March and 6 April 2016. The second application group is meant for applicants who have completed the Finnish matriculation examination or hold an International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate or Reifeprüfung degree.

First students admitted in the programme will begin their studies in August 2016.
