TUT continues to climb in international rankingsIn the recently published QS World University Ranking, Tampere University of Technology ranked 319th. TUT climbed 37 spots from last year and as many as 112 spots from 2013.
QS World University Rankings ranks the world’s universities based on their academic reputation, citations, student-to-faculty ratio, international faculty ratio and employer reputation. In the results for 2016/2017, Tampere University of Technology ranked as high as 319th. TUT’s strong areas were the student-to-faculty ratio and internationality.
The top spots in the QS World University Ranking were occupied by renowned heavyweights such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University and Harvard university. Ten Finnish universities ranked on the list and TUT achieved the 4th best placement among them.
QS evaluated a total of 4,322 universities, 916 of which made it on the list.
“This exclusive group features roughly a fifth of the world’s universities, and TUT ranks in the top ten per cent,” President Mika Hannula notes.
“This is a welcome continuation to the fact that Times Higher Education ranked us 11th in their international comparison evaluating university–industry collaboration in scientific research,” Hannula says.
