The Technical Society of Tampere donates 50,000 euros to the TUT Foundation

The Technical Society of Tampere has made another valuable contribution to the capital campaign of the TUT Foundation in a bid to promote engineering education and research in Tampere.

The TUT Foundation, which operates as Tampere University of Technology (TUT), will receive 50,000 euros from the Society. The Finnish state is committed to matching private donations made to the Foundation on a 5:2 basis, which in this case totals more than 125,000 euros.

“We want to encourage other local businesses, communities and people to make a donation to support high-quality research and education at Tampere University of Technology that has been a driving force behind economic growth in the region. The government will match private donations made to the Foundation by the end of 30 June 2012 on a 5:2 basis, so now is the time to act,” says the Society’s Chairman Mika Uusi-Pietilä.

Established in 1893, the Technical Society of Tampere is an independent association for academically educated architects and engineers. The purpose of the Society is to serve the interests of its members and the community at large and promote the development of technology.

The Technical Society of Tampere is one of the founding members of the TUT Foundation.
