The Academy of Finland awards funding for research on ERP systems

The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering has granted funding to Professor Samuli Pekkola for a four-year project titled “ENACT - ERP Development Networks in Action”.

Prof. Pekkola is based in the Department of Business Information Management and Logistics at Tampere University of Technology (TUT).

The budget of the project is 615,000 euros. The Academy of Finland’s share is 492,000 euros.

The ENACT project explores the development of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. ERP software allows an organization to use a system of integrated applications to manage its operations, including manufacturing, distribution, warehouse management and finances. Buying and implementing an ERP system can be both expensive and risky for businesses and public organizations.

The project is scheduled to start in autumn 2012. TUT’s partners in the project are Prof. Matti Rossi’s research group from Aalto University and Prof. Kari Smolander’s research group from Lappeenranta University of Technology. The total budget of the project is some 1.8 million euros.
