Technology Days in Tampere in OctoberTampere University of Technology (TUT) celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015. One of the highlights of the anniversary year is Technology Days, which will take place in Tampere city centre on 22-24 October.
Technology Days is a science fair hosted by Technology Academy Finland. This is the first time that the main event is held outside of Greater Helsinki. Satellite events will take place in Helsinki, Oulu and Turku.
The main event in Tampere will explore the sweeping changes brought about by the digital age. Foremost scientists and industry representatives from Finland will shed light on the impact that the digital revolution will have on our daily lives.
“We live in a digital world, and Technology Days brings together Finland’s brightest minds to discuss current trends and future directions in this area,” says Professor Jaakko Astola from Tampere University of Technology. He serves as the Chairman of Technology Days.
The keynote speaker is renowned Professor of Space Astronomy Esko Valtaoja. He will give a lecture titled ‘Tiedon tekemä maailma’.
Technology Days offers an exciting programme of events that will interest visitors of all ages. Among others, the participants will have the opportunity to test new technology and ask tough questions from the experts. The late-night programme includes ScienceSlam that mixes science with stand-up comedy. Companies are invited to attend the TUT Forum that explores the Internet of Things. In addition, Technology Days is linked to the programme of the opening week of Tampere Illuminations.
