Summer school attracts leading experts in photonics and optics to TampereThe international summer school titled ´New Frontiers in Optical Technologies´ brings together some of the world’s brightest minds in optical technologies at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) on 7-11 August 2017.
Tampere University of Technology is hosting the summer school for the ninth time. The biennial event was first held in 2001 and has since grown into the largest summer school in optical technologies in Europe.
The summer school is set to welcome more than 100 students and researchers from 12 countries.
”The International Summer School ´New Frontiers in Optical Technologies´ provides an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas within the optics and photonics community. The participants, ranging from students to professors, have the opportunity to share their research, meet colleagues and draw inspiration from renowned scholars,” says Chairman of the Summer School, Professor Mircea Guina from the Optoelectronics Research Centre at TUT.
The presentations showcase the latest applications in photonics. The impressive roster of speakers includes many of the foremost authorities in the field.
”One of our goals is to combine the latest breakthroughs in basic science with novel photonics applications across different fields, such as medicine, communications and robotics,” says Guina.
