Student Union donates 5,000 euros to TUT’s capital campaign

The freshmen dipped in the Tammerkoski rapids on 1 May will be accompanied by a check for 5,000 euros.

The capital campaign of the TUT Foundation that operates as Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is entering the final stretch. Students from the University have taken a slightly different approach to supporting the campaign.

“We’re donating genuine, dipped-in-the-stream money,” says Antti Hiekkanen, Chairman of the Student Union, referring to the University’s old student tradition of dipping freshmen in the Tammerkoski rapids in Tampere city centre every May Day.

Member of the TUT Foundation’s Board Leena Eskola and President Markku Kivikoski will be there to receive the donation.

The purpose of the donation is to encourage companies and alumni in the Pirkanmaa Region to make a contribution to the economic development of the area, as TUT has long had a significant economic impact on the surrounding region.

“We at Atostek Ltd have invited all the software companies in the region to take part in supporting the capital campaign. TUT produces the best graduates in the field of software engineering”, says one of the founders of Atostek, Financial Director Leena Eskola.
