Professor Hannu Jaakkola receives UCPori’s Researcher of the Year Award

Prof. Hannu Jaakkola from the Pori unit of Tampere University of Technology (TUT) has supervised 11 dissertations and around 300 master’s theses and authored more than 200 scientific publications.

 The University Consortium of Pori (UCPori) has granted its seventh annual Researcher of the Year Award to Professor of Software Engineering Hannu Jaakkola, who is based at the Pori unit of Tampere University of Technology.

Jaakkola has played a significant role in developing the university consortium model in the City of Pori and spurring the growth of IT industry in the region. In addition, he has been actively involved in the development of the JOKO and eMBA programmes at UCPori and serves as the director of both programmes. He has also headed numerous research projects conducted in collaboration with companies.

The University Consortium of Pori is a multidisciplinary scientific community that comprises units from four universities and a total of 3,300 students and 220 employees. The consortium has produced 1,600 graduates with a master’s degree as well as 70 doctors and licentiates.
