Prof. Jaakko Astola joins the Selection Committee for the Millennium Technology Prize
Professor Jaakko Astola from Tampere University of Technology (TUT) has been selected to join the prestigious International Selection Committee comprising eight world-class scientists.
The Millennium Technology Prize is given out every two years by the Technology Academy Finland. It is one of the world’s largest science and technology awards with a prize pot of at least one million euros. The prize is granted for an innovation that has the potential to increase the quality of people’s lives and that promotes sustainable development.
The International Selection Committee will review the most promising candidates and prepare a shortlist for consideration by the Board of the Technology Academy Finland. The nomination period is open until 31 July 2013. The Board of the Technology Academy will decide the winner(s) on the recommendation of the Selection Committee in June 2014.
Professor Jaakko Astola is a professor of signal processing at Tampere University of Technology. He specializes in signal processing, information theory and statistics.
