President Kivikoski received a warm-hearted and relaxed sendoff

The farewell party for TUT’s stepped-down President Markku Kivikoski was a warm-hearted and relaxed event. Kivikoski served as TUT’s President from 2008 through 2016.

The farewell party at Kampusareena was attended by numerous TUT employees and students on Tuesday. The Teekkarikuoro choir and TUT’s own professor band TUT Prof Experience performed at the event.

“After I stepped down as President at the end of March, I have had the chance to unwind a bit. In August, I will embark on a new career phase in a sense, as I will be taking a professor’s sabbatical year. I am hoping to submerge in substance questions after a long while,” Kivikoski says.

Kivikoski opened the farewell event by extending his heartfelt thank you to all TUT community members for their support and assistance during his presidency: “Developing TUT with you all has been a productive and fun journey”.

The former and current Presidents Markku Kivikoski and Mika Hannula raised their glasses.

The Teekkarikuoro choir started their performance off with the ‘Alussa oli insinööri’ anniversary cantata, composed in honour of TUT’s jubilee.
