NAAR symposium 2018: Built environment and architecture as a resourceThe Nordic Association of Architectural Research (NAF/NAAR) Symposium on May 31st to June 1st 2018, in Seinäjoki, Finland.
Many cities worldwide are in the process of developing resilient strategic frameworks for the future to adapt their physical structures to the challenges of tomorrow. The aim of this conference is to discuss how cities, neighborhoods, buildings and citizens can become resilient, and what role architects and urban planners may play in this process.
Keynote speakers are Ida Andersson, Maarten Gielen and Matti Kuittinen.
PhD Ida Andersson comes from Stockholm University. In her research she is focusing on urban geography and green economy. Maarten Gielen is a founding member of the collective Rotor where he currently works as designer, manager and researcher. D.Sc., architect Matti Kuittinen works as Senior Specialist at the Ministry of the Environment in Finland, and he also teaches sustainable construction at Aalto University. His work is focused on the environmental impacts of buildings, green public procurement and circular economy.
The symposium is a joint venture between Tampere University of Technology, School of Architecture, and the Nordic Association of Architectural Research, NAF/NAAR.
