MUVIS ranked 3rd in an International competition on counter measures to 2D facial spoofing attacks

MUVIS team was ranked 3rd in the 2nd International competition on counter measures to 2D facial spoofing attacks. Spoofing attacks are performed when an invalid (impostor) user tries to gain an access to the system by presenting a copy of the biometric traits (facial in this case) of a valid user.

There were a total of 8 teams from different countries participating in the competition,  (MUVIS) was third best with only 1 mis-classification on both the development and anonymous test sets.

MUVIS contribution was authored by MA Waris, Honglei Zhang, I. Ahmed, Prof. Serkan Kiranyaz and Academy Professor Moncef Gabbouj. The results will be published at ICB-2013 in Madrid, Spain in June 2013.
