More than 1,600 hopefuls applied for a place in the 2012 Millennium Youth Camp
A total of 30 talented young persons have been selected to participate in the 2012 Millennium Youth Camp, which will take place in Helsinki next June. Noora Vainio, a first-year student at Tampere University of Technology, is one of the two Finns that were selected.The international Millennium Youth Camp offers young people between the ages of 16 and 19 an overview of Finnish expertise and world-class research in the natural sciences, mathematics and technology.
MY Campers will be introduced to a number of Finnish companies and higher educational institutions. The purpose of the camp is to increase interest in mathematics, science and technology among young people, to raise awareness of the educational and working opportunities available in Finland and to help students build contacts with each other and world-class scientists. In addition to lectures, workshops and visits to Millennium Youth Camp partners, the programme includes project work under the supervision of top-level experts.
The 2012 MY Camp attracted a total of 1,620 applications from young people from literally all over the world.
The third MY Camp for talented young people will run from 9 June to 16 June. The main organizers of the camp are Technology Academy Finland and the National LUMA Centre.
